My SafeSight TransPRK EpiLASIK surgery!

Hi guys!

It's been about two weeks since I did my SafeSight TransPRK surgery and
I AM SO HAPPY I MADE THE DECISION TO DO IT!

I won't talk about my POST-OP - will leave it to another blog entry because I don't really wanna infest this entry with too much details/content 😂

So let me just walk you guys through my surgery two weeks ago at
ClearVision Eye Clinic with Dr Tony Ho!

If you guys feel that I was so freaking brave to go through this.... I WAS SCARED AF LOL
I was squirming and all and if I have to go through this again.... I WILL NOT.
EVER.

Hahaha apparently my fear is much bigger than my desire of obtaining perfect eyesight 😂

Snapping while waiting for the nurses to attend to me 😛
So my surgery was scheduled to be 10.30am in the morning.
I didn't sleep the entire night because I wanted to be extremely tired after my surgery so I can sleep and rest haha

When I was there, first thing I had to do was to fill up a form to give consent to this surgery and also accept that there MIGHT BE risks involved...
(tbh this part quite scary but.... wth I'm already at the clinic hahaha)

I was then ushered to do some more eye tests to confirm that my eyes were ready for the surgery itself.
I have already gone through these eye tests approximately two weeks ago when I went for my consultation, so this was just like a confirm-guarantee-chop kinda thing 😛

After that I was whisked away to another room at the back where the nurse will explain to me on post-op care and medications.
She had to do it before the surgery just to make sure I was "sane" and okay enough to take note of what to do after the surgery.
(Esp for the fact that my eyes will be super uncomfy and dry right after the surgery)

There were a lot of eyedrops I needed to remember to apply and also I was told that I needed A LOT of rest which means that I can't really use my phone or computer much.
(Reading fine print is cray I tell you.... I had to SQUINT MY EYES even when I read whatsapp texts)

After that......

TIME FOR THE SURGERY!

I was asked to get dressed into my "spacesuit" (okay la surgery suit hahaha) and then to drip anaesthesia eyedrops to prep for the surgery.

I WAS SO DARN WORRIED AND SCARED I SWEAR.

It's my eyes I'm talking about....

SO MANY "WHAT IFs" RUNNING THROUGH MY MIND OMG

The nurse giving me anaesthesia eyedrops
Cleaning my eye area to prep for the surgery
Haha I WAS SO WORRIED
HAHAHAH TERMINATOR MOMENT NEED TO TAKE SELFIE

😂😂😂

In the surgery room....

It's starting any minute!!

Scariest moment when Dr Tony Ho held onto my head... SERIOUSLY...
See the thingy used to hold my eyes open?
DAMN I HATE THAT OMG
Each eye really took about 3-5minutes for the laser as well as the TransPRK Xtra procedure - SUPER FAST!
It's onto my left eye within minutes!
Closing up on it....
That beam is actually the laser...
HAHA THAT'S MY EYE, sorry if it looks disgusting 😛
The red light is actually part of the TransPRK Xtra procedure!

How does TransPRK Xtra work?
TransPRK Xtra is a 3-minute procedure performed right after your Safe Sight TransPRK :

1. Safe Sight TransPRK procedure is performed
2. Riboflavin (Vitamin B2)* eye drops are applied to the cornea.
3 The riboflavin-soaked cornea is illuminated with ultra-violet A (UVA) light using advanced technology of the Avedro KXL® System, and this treatment cross-links the collagen fibers within the cornea, thus strengthening the cornea.

*Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) aids in red blood cell production and helps release energy from carbohydrates, making it very helpful for body growth.

Literally TERMINATOR moment
Last round of eye check and I'm done!
This moment when I knew that the surgery was over..... PHEW

Haha I remember when I was helped up after the surgery and my eyes felt super uncomfy... but still, a picture with Dr Tony Ho right after it!
After the surgery, I was brought to a pretty dark room to rest my eyes and drip some eyedrops before I was allowed to go home.

I remembered at that point of time I seriously just wanted to go home so so so so badly.
Because my eyes.....STUNG LIKE CRAYYYYY

Eyedrops time!
These are the three eyedrops that I relied heavily on for the past one week or so, namely TOBREX (Antibiotics), FML & VIGAMOX.
I am now currently on FML only & some lubricating eyedrops 😉

After the surgery, Dr Tony Ho inserted a transparent, high-oxygen content soft contact lens into my eyes for it to act like an artificial cornea to "bandage" and protect my eyes while the epithelium cells heal and regenerate!

It has to be in the eye for about 5-7 days and not to be removed unless by the doctor or the nurses.
Haha how I look literally right after the surgery.
Eyes super red and swollen but vision is about 60% to 70% clear!
It is absolutely normal to not have perfect/clear eyesight right after the surgery as your cornea is still healing from the laser procedure!

Had a little chit-chat session with Jolene from ClearVision Singapore while waiting to go home.
I swear I didn't know the camera was still rolling at that moment and so..... the entire funny convo was recorded down 😂

Enjoy watching this - it includes the actual footage of my surgery!

Thank you guys for following through my journey so far.
I am halfway through my recovery process now and I am just relying a lot on eyedrops every single day now to help accelerate the healing process as well as to lubricate my eyes and keep my cornea healthy and well.
