My Epicanthoplasty Journey with The Clifford Surgery Clinic

Hello guys~

It's been quite some since I've last blogged (I know I know 😜) but today it's gonna be an interesting one because it's about my epicanthoplasty surgery/journey with The Clifford Surgery Clinic 😊

So... how did I even go about doing this surgery or think about doing it?

Okay first off, I actually didn't really intend to do this surgery at first.

But I did notice that my eyes were just....ROUND.

I did sometimes wish I have slightly longer eyes (just slightly) so my features look more "balanced".

Maybe a close up to show you all.....

So in the end, I was recommended by Dr Timothy Shim to do Epicanthoplasty.

What is Epicanthoplasty?

"Lateral canthoplasty is a procedure in which the lateral canthus is fixed (anchored) to the lateral orbital rim after surgical division (lateral cantholysis). It is usually performed with lower blepharoplasty in order to correct the laxity and malposition of the lower lid."

(Source : https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4959973/)

So during my consultation, Dr Shim shared with me that the cut will be very very minimal,

just about 2-3mm.

He kinda "pre-warned" me that the AFTER won't be super different/exaggerated because we want it to look as natural as possible (oh I like him already 😋).

Correct ma, if you wanna do surgery, yes it should be an enhancement, not to make you look super unnatural or a totally different person.

That is of course my personal opinion and preferences la!

Surgery Day

Huhu bye-bye old eyes I'm not gonna miss youuuuu 😂

Okay actually right....
I'M DAMN SCARED OKAY.
I WAS DAMN WORRIED BECAUSE.... I WILL ONLY BE UNDER LOCAL ANESTHESIA.
I was like OMG OMG OMG OMG

But right... despite being awake the whole time and being able to feel Dr Shim working on my eyes (hahaha oops sorry if this is too much info) I actually feel the whole process was bearable.

I think the most painful part was the LA jabs around my eyes area.

That one was really FREAKING PAINFUL.

I won't sugarcoat and tell you it's nothing and I feel totally no pain cos it's just BS la but for beauty....

IT'S REALLY WORTH IT.

After Surgery

To me, the after-care after each surgery is extremely important.
You kinda have to really be careful, and of cos be gentle and take your meds in time for the healing to be well.
My body heals really fast in general so I'm not too worried but remember to follow all instructions from the doctors/nurses!
They are here to help you~

When I was home, I was just really super tired and want to sleep.
I felt some pain (about 5/10) so I took the painkillers and just slept.

I woke up a few hours later and my face swelled LOL

But but but it's completely normal okay.
I curb this problem by eating the Arnica tablets and eating more fruits, veggies and drinking more water too!

I had very slight bruising but I was super worried when I saw that my right eye turned out so bloody-looking.

I gave Clifford Aesthetics a call and they assured me that it's just part of the healing process.
But I was told to go back to the clinic the next day to change the surgical tapes because my wounds are getting soaked. (The surgical tapes are supposed to help escalate your healing process.)

This was me on Day 2.
My overall face swelling went down but not my eyelids LOL.

On a side note...

I love the aesthetics of the entire clinic.
It's the vibe - it just gives patients the assurance when you step inside esp when you know you're going to entrust the doctors your skin, your face, your body.

So anyways... my stitches can only be removed in 5 days.. so in the meantime, let me just update my day by day recovery process!

Haha by Day 5 the whites of my eyes became clearer and my eyelids were less swollen.
And it's the day to remove stitches!

I really like the lounge area, where I get to chill to wait for the doctor's review.

This wa exactly how I look before stitches removal.
Actually I was super duper excited and looking forward to it.
Because Dr Shim shared with me that after stitches removal my healing is gonna be even faster!

THE STITCHES REMOVAL HURTS LIKE A B**** 😩😭
But it has to get out😓

Anyways for anyone keen to know... I'm to refrain from wearing makeup/contact lens for about 1-2months after my surgery.

Honestly right, I don't feel any different or look any different (except no more threads on my eyes yay)
Dr Shim say the surgical tapes have to stay on for recovery purposes!

DAY 10

This was the day I feel my eyes truly truly look so bright and different.
AND OMG GUYS IT'S JUST 10 DAYS POST OP?!

I was told to head back to clinic the next day (Day 11) for the removal of the tapes!
SO FAST RIGHT?!

So...

THE VERY NEXT DAY

I recalled feeling super excited.
Not scared at all hahaha

Super happy like historic moment lollllll
😂

 Yay tapes removed!! 💖

Now the before/after...

Okay I know I know I know the before and after is not SUPER DUPER DIFFERENT
BUT it "opens up" my eyes and I somehow have a "brighter" look, and less tired-looking eyes.

So after the tapes removal, the rest are history.
I literally started wearing makeup at week 2, and contact lenses at week 3 😝
(Because I felt ready to but PLEASE DON'T LISTEN TO ME OK LISTEN TO THE DOCTOR AH)

WEEK 2-3 :

WEEK 3-4 :

WEEK 4 :

AND ABOUT 1 MONTH 5 DAYS POST OP....

If you ask me.. I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT REGRET MY CHOICE FOR GOING AHEAD WITH THIS SURGERY💖

I really put my faith and trust in Dr Timothy Shim and to be honest, I never felt happier.
Throughout the entire surgery he made me feel comfortable, taken care of and he patiently answered all my questions.

And and and... with the fact that I'm #WFH at this moment doing PS in Singapore is actually much more convenient and worth it - considering the healing time, the money spent, the circumstances the entire world is in now.... it's actually perfect 😉

The surgery is about $3800 with pre/post-consultation, but feel free to drop
